About CouchLoot
CouchLoot is a small, independent game-discovery project built around one practical question: what should we play tonight?
How games are organized
The mosaic groups games by the kind of evening they suit: shorter sessions, shared-screen play, story-rich worlds, or broad popularity. Public ratings and activity can help order a shortlist, but they are not a substitute for watching how a game actually plays.
How recommendations work
The tonight chooser uses your available session length, company, and preference for a calmer game. Favorites and games you mark as owned get priority. Session length and ease of entry are editorial guidance; they are separate from a game’s total campaign length.
Shared-screen and online co-op are separate Steam compatibility fields. Community favorites use review volume; Twitch picks follow the latest successfully fetched viewing order among games in this catalog. When a source is unavailable, the last successful data is retained.
What the guides are for
Every guide is written to resolve a real decision before a game night. They favor durable advice over release-day news, avoid manufactured urgency, and are reviewed when the site changes.
How our guides are researched
CouchLoot uses AI-assisted research and writing to explain practical game-night decisions. Game features and setup requirements are checked against official publisher, platform and store pages, with source links supplied in the guides. Advice about the kind of evening a game may suit is an editorial interpretation, not a measured performance result.
We do not present generated copy as a hands-on review, claim playtime we have not logged, or invent testing, quotes and ratings. A game’s current official requirements take precedence over older guidance. Publication dates describe when an article first appeared; update dates change when the content is materially revised.
Our selection is a limited PC catalog, not a complete ranking of every game. We do not accept paid placement in these shortlists. Games are selected for distinct decisions and linked back to previews so you can judge the fit yourself.
New guides and substantive revisions are available through the CouchLoot RSS feed.
